The U.S. Census Bureau--which is part of the U.S. Commerce Department--this morning released their monthly Construction Spending report for April, 2006:
Consensus: +0.2%
Actual: -0.1%
The above percentages represent the month-to-month change in new public and private construction activity for the United States. The "consensus" is what Wall Street forecasters were expecting, while the "actual" is the actual or real figure.
Overall construction spending is up by 8.5% when compared to April, 2005.
